The perfect bedroom is not large or full of expensive furniture, It is the one that we think is right for our needs. You need a place where you can rest and sleep. The design has a lot to do when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep. Light, order, and decoration are essential for a good night’s sleep.
There are many aspects to consider when we want a perfect bedroom. On the one hand, we have physical and tangible aspects such as the mattress, the light or the color, and on the other hand some less obvious ones such as the orientation of the elements that make up the bedroom.
How to create a perfect room for rest
Colors and lighting
Color therapy explains that color influences the mood, and can be both stimulating and relaxing. In the bedroom, being a place for rest, color should be a great ally for relaxation, so energetic tones such as reds and yellows should be avoided. Earth colors are a safe bet for calmness. Always cozy, they stabilize the sensations and tuck the room.
White can be a great color to achieve this goal, but if the white is too pure, it can cause a counterproductive feeling of nudity, so it is more convenient to use tones from the darkest sienna to the lightest beige. Blues can also bring warmth and freshness to the environment, but always try to use light, pastel tones.
Lighting is also very important, especially if it is natural light. If we wake up with natural light we will regulate our biological rhythm and therefore we will fall asleep more easily at night and we will wake up happier in the morning. On the other hand, when we go to sleep, it is better to use dim lights in the bedroom to prevent melatonin levels (the sleep hormone) from disappearing.
Choose the right bed, mattress, and sheets
We can start by taking into account that bed linen made of synthetic fabrics absorbs less moisture from the skin than natural fabrics. It is therefore important to choose the right bedding.
The mattress must have a length of at least 10 cm (3.9 in) greater than the height while the firmness of the mattress will be directly proportional to the weight, being the soft ones for those weighing less than 70 kg (154 lb) and the harder ones for weights over 100 kg (220 lb).
Another aspect to take into account is the materials selected for the mattress. For cold environments, latex and viscoelastic are recommended, which can generate a feeling of warmth due to the greater contact. For hot climates or for people who sweat easily, the spring mattress will be the most recommended.
It is also extremely important to equip the bedroom with a good storage system. So everything is close at hand but out of sight. Having furniture to store everything will help you to keep your room tidy, helping you to relax and improve your mood.
